I write what I write

About Cayendi (aka Anita)

I'm a 41 year old writer, wife (married to Kees (pronounced case)), mother of two sporty and mischievous teenage sons (Sander (18) and Patrick (15)) and full-time student (studying to be an English Teacher), with far too much imagination, who sings her way through life :)

About Cayendi's Writing

I think I've been thinking up stories all my life, or at least, that's how it seems to me. Though I didn't start writing until somewhere in my teens, I remember using my barbie dolls to act out the stories that were in my head. I also have some very silly romantic plays lying about somewhere. Err, yes, I'm the kind of girl who keeps everything, even when it's crap. You never know ...

I try to write every day, or at least mull over the plot when I don't really have time, and I always drag my laptop and/or notebooks practically everywhere I go.

I mainly write Fantasy/SF with a dash of crime and often with a gay theme (though I have been known to write love stories). Most of my earlier writings are in Dutch, but when I started writing 'Bridges to Cross' (june 1999), a gay coming of age story, I found that writing in English felt somehow more natural. English is a beautiful language for writing, with a lot of nuances, though there are some wonderful Dutch expressions that are rather hard (read impossible) to translate.

In 2004 and 2005 two of my short stories were published in Carillon Magazine, a British small press magazine. Though I'd love to see some of my other work published, I've been working on a couple of novels, and they take longer to finish (three of them are unfinished, and one is in the editing stage).

With a few exceptions (three poems), only some of my English writing is housed on this site.

Before I start rambling on and on, I'll direct you to my Blogspot; a place where I blog about my writing process. I try to update it regularly ... but I do tend to get distracted (and, unfortunately, not always by my writing)

I also ramble about my writing and more personal matters (not too personal, mind) in the following places.
Livejournal, MySpace (though I mostly use MySpace to hook up with people interested in Torchwood (SF series) and the bands Blue Gillespie and Disgracelands)
